Responsible actor. Solicitor or sheriff officer who formally served the Claim Form.
Establish the actual current last date for a response in the applicable Timetable.
Establish actual initiation under the current rules edition.
Current ordinary Simple Procedure branch with an established actual anchor, complete court calendar, unaltered period and actual completion. The result requires an open unadjusted endpoint. Closed endpoints, other editions, varied orders and unestablished delivery remain outside this model.
Simple Procedure Rules 6.11(4),6.3,6.6;1.8(5)How does this provision count time?
- Count back two calendar days from the actual current last date for a response in the applicable Timetable. The source does not say clear days. The supported result requires that unadjusted date to be an actual open court day.
- A closed backward endpoint needs separate review. No automatic forward adjustment replaces this minimum lead time or the distinct court and other-party completion duties.

Fictitious example
Fictional established claim and source branch. The actual current response or hearing anchor is Thursday, October 15, 2026. The actual court calendar and completion route are established except any explicit refusal boundary.
| Step | What is counted | Date |
|---|---|---|
| Example 1. Ordinary established facts | Fictional established claim and source branch. The actual current response or hearing anchor is Thursday, October 15, 2026. The actual court calendar and completion route are established except any explicit refusal boundary. Subtract exactly 2 calendar days from the actual current anchor. The source does not say clear days. The actual court endpoint is open. Required court arrival and any simultaneous other-party sending still need completion by that date. | Tuesday, October 13, 2026 |
| Example 2. Material procedural branch | Fictional established claim and source branch. The actual current response or hearing anchor is Thursday, March 2, 2028. The actual court calendar and completion route are established except any explicit refusal boundary. Subtract exactly 2 calendar days from the actual current anchor. The source does not say clear days. The actual court endpoint is open. Required court arrival and any simultaneous other-party sending still need completion by that date. | Tuesday, February 29, 2028 |
| Example 3. Closed-day boundary | Fictional established claim and source branch. The actual current response or hearing anchor is Thursday, October 15, 2026. The actual court calendar and completion route are established except any explicit refusal boundary. The supported backward model refuses closed endpoints, unestablished source facts and unsupported edition or date windows. No combined completion date is rolled forward. | The endpoint falls on a closed court day. Check the actual court and applicable provision. No automatic adjustment is inferred. |

- Source condition 1
- The actual claim was initiated on or after May 31, 2023 and the current Simple Procedure Rules apply. This is not an ordinary cause or national personal injury proceeding.
- Source condition 2
- I checked the actual current Timetable and every sheriff order. No varied deadline, replacement timetable, pause, continuation or other order changes the selected ordinary period.
- Source condition 3
- The source says at least two calendar days or two calendar weeks before the actual anchor. It does not use clear days. No additional clear day or automatic working-day count is imported.
- Source condition 4
- I established the actual sheriff court and its complete relevant public holidays, court holidays and full-day closures. The supported result requires the unadjusted backward endpoint to be an actual open court day.
- Source condition 5
- Rule 6.3 distinguishes required arrival from posting or transmission. The actual method must complete the required receipt and sending in time. The calculator does not infer delivery from posting.
- Source condition 6
- No automatic closed-day adjustment is made for this minimum backward lead time. Rule 6.3(3) and any distinct court and other-party completion require separate review if the endpoint is closed.
- Source condition 7
- A solicitor or sheriff officer actually formally served the Claim Form. This is the rule 6.11(4) Confirmation of Formal Service duty, not a seven-day clock from service or the sheriff clerk’s service route.
- Source condition 8
- I established the actual effective current last response date, including any actual applicable receipt rule or order. Resolve any difference from the printed Timetable first. It is not the service date or a superseded timetable date.
