When is an Illinois interlocutory supporting record due?
For the established ordinary Rule 307(a) appeal, file the Rule 328 supporting record in the Appellate Court within thirty days after order entry, unless the Appellate Court or a judge actually extends record time. The notice period remains separate. The rule specifies a Rule 323 record instead for its Juvenile Court Act parental-rights-termination cases.

Illinois Supreme Court Rule 307(a)How is this Illinois appellate period counted?
- Establish the ordinary Rule 307(a) order and actual entry.
- Exclude the independently established triggering day and count intermediate calendar days under 5 ILCS 70/1.11. A filing, entry, effective service or previously established due date must come from its actual record. Do not substitute one event for another.
- Check statutory holidays and the proper court’s actual calendar.
- Complete the particular act in the proper court.
Section 1.11 excludes a final Saturday, Sunday or statutory holiday and consecutive excluded days. Section 17(a) of the Promissory Note and Bank Holiday Act includes Pulaski Day, Good Friday and the general election for members of the House of Representatives. Check proclamations, the proper court’s actual calendar and clerk access separately. The bundled Illinois calendar covers 2026 and 2027.

- The ordinary branch excludes specified special procedures
- Rule 307(a) lists qualifying injunction, receiver, possession, financial-institution and adoption orders. Ex parte orders use paragraph (b), temporary restraining orders paragraph (d), and its eminent-domain class incorporates the statute’s appeal and stay procedure. Establish the actual class rather than assuming every interlocutory order is appealable.
- Ex parte orders require the prior motion and actual event
- Rule 307(b) requires a motion to vacate presented on notice. Its appeal and supporting-record time runs from actual denial or the last day for trial-court action after presentation, as applicable. Original ex parte order entry alone is not this branch’s event.
- The record extension concerns record time
- Rule 307(a) allows the Appellate Court or a judge to extend supporting-record time. A granted record extension does not by itself establish an extension of the separate notice period.
- Covered juvenile termination cases require another record
- Rule 307(a) prohibits a Rule 328 supporting record in the stated Juvenile Court Act cases where parental rights were terminated and requires a Rule 323 record.
- The calculator does not decide appealability, disputed facts, sufficiency of a filing or whether the court grants relief.
- Check the governing edition and actual orders. A current rule does not establish every historical appeal’s timetable.
