How does Florida count this civil period?

  1. Identify the partial or final agreement and the required party signatures or authorized transcription.
  2. Rule 1.090(a) incorporates Rule 2.514(a). Exclude the established event. For seven days or longer, begin with the next day that is not Saturday, Sunday or a legal holiday. Count intermediate calendar days. For fewer than seven days, omit intermediate Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays. Do not treat a seven-day period as seven business days.
  3. Check the observed statutory holidays, actual clerk calendar and chief-justice directions.
  4. Complete the required act with the proper court or recipient.

Apply the observed New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans’ Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving and Christmas Day holidays. Section 110.117 observes Saturday holidays on the preceding Friday and Sunday holidays on the following Monday. Rule 2.514 also includes clerk-observed holidays and days designated by the chief justice or chief judge. An ineligible final day moves in the counting direction. The bundled Florida calendar covers 2026 through 2028. Verify additional closures and chief-justice extensions separately.

Which Florida civil qualifications change the procedure?

Partial and final agreements require proper form
The agreement must be reduced to writing and signed by each party or its full-authority representative under Rule 1.720(c). Signatures may be original, electronic or in counterparts. A party stipulation permits transcription or electronic recording. An unfinished draft or first signature alone does not establish the completed agreement.
Existence reporting does not disclose every term
Report existence without comment. File the agreement when law requires it or the parties consent. The rule separately addresses a report or stipulation of dismissal and permissible transcript filing. Do not assume settlement terms must be filed merely because the report is due.
No agreement has a different report
Paragraph (a) requires a report of no agreement without comment or recommendation. Identifying certain unresolved matters requires party consent. The ten-day signed-agreement calculation does not fabricate a settlement after an unsuccessful mediation.
Enforcement requires the applicable court act
Authorized communication technology alone is not an enforceability objection under paragraph (c). A breach or failure to perform permits court sanctions or remedies on motion under paragraph (d), including possible judgment. The existence report itself does not grant those remedies.
