When must the surviving entity file its verified list of appraisal claimants?
If another person files the appraisal petition, the served surviving, resulting or converted entity files its verified claimant list within twenty days after service. If the entity files its own petition, the list accompanies that petition. The twenty-day calculator therefore concerns only the served-entity branch.

Which established event governs this requirement?
If another person files the appraisal petition, the served surviving, resulting or converted entity files its verified claimant list within twenty days after service. If the entity files its own petition, the list accompanies that petition. The twenty-day calculator therefore concerns only the served-entity branch.
Responsible actor. The surviving, resulting or converted entity served with another person’s appraisal petition.
Obtain another person’s filed petition and identify the Register office.
Establish effective initial service, its date and whether it was made exclusively by mail.
Identify demandants with no agreed share value and prepare the duly verified list.
Establish a petition filed by another person and legally effective service on the entity. Select personal, exclusively mailed or legally effective electronic service. EFile submission alone does not serve initial process. The entity’s own petition requires immediate accompaniment, not this later period.
8 Del. C. § 262(f)How do Court counting and exclusive-mail service interact?
- Effective service of another person’s filed appraisal petition on the entity
- Exclude the effective service date and count twenty calendar days under Chancery Rule 6(a). Apply its ordinary final-day rollover first. For legally effective service made exclusively by mail, Rule 6(c) then adds three calendar days; apply final-day treatment to the extended boundary. Personal or effective electronic service receives no mail-only addition.
- File the duly verified list in the Register in Chancery office where the petition was filed. Identify persons who demanded appraisal and have no agreed share value with the entity. Preserve verification, contents, effective service and completed filing evidence.
Current Delaware Code and retained Chancery compilation reviewed. An editorial check does not establish an amendment commencement date. Establish the statutory version applicable to the actual transaction. The Court compilation is current through June 1, 2026.
The Court calculation uses the published 2026 statewide holiday schedule. The 2027 named dates are projections under 1 Del. C. § 501, including Friday, December 31, 2027 as the observed January 1, 2028 holiday. Future Governor appointments, actual additional closures and amendments require separate review. Sussex Return Day afternoon is not treated as a statewide full-day closure.
Reviewed coverage combines the current Delaware Code with the retained June 1, 2026 Chancery compilation. Supported calculators cover established events and final dates from June 1, 2026 through December 31, 2027. This editorial boundary is not statutory commencement or a finding of lateness. Earlier events, backward periods crossing the boundary and later results require renewed edition review. No computed or paid date is supplied outside this coverage.

Fictitious established facts. These examples do not establish entitlement, completed corporate acts or filing, legally effective service, applicable statutory version or an extension. Establish a petition filed by another person and legally effective service on the entity. Select personal, exclusively mailed or legally effective electronic service. EFile submission alone does not serve initial process. The entity’s own petition requires immediate accompaniment, not this later period.
Try these dates in the calculatorWhich qualifications change this particular requirement?
- Entity as petitioner
- If the entity itself petitions, the verified list accompanies the petition. The statute grants no later twenty-day window for that branch.
- Exclusive-mail addition
- Rule 6(c) adds three calendar days after the Rule 6(a) period for a party act measured after exclusively mailed service. Duplicate paper with effective electronic service does not establish exclusive mail.
- Effective initial process
- The petition must be served on the entity under the applicable Court procedure. Filing a petition electronically or sending a courtesy copy does not establish legally effective initial service.
