Illinois Supreme Court Rule 323(b)How is this Illinois appellate period counted?
- Obtain actual notice filing rather than judgment entry or the transcript request.
- Exclude the independently established triggering day and count intermediate calendar days under 5 ILCS 70/1.11. A filing, entry, effective service or previously established due date must come from its actual record. Do not substitute one event for another.

- Complete the particular act in the proper court.
Section 1.11 excludes a final Saturday, Sunday or statutory holiday and consecutive excluded days. Check proclamations, the proper court’s actual calendar and clerk access separately. The bundled Illinois calendar covers 2026 and 2027.

- Certification and notification are required
- Rule 323(b) requires certification of accuracy and notice to all parties of completion and circuit-clerk filing. The report is taken as correct unless shown otherwise and corrected under Rule 329.
- Each report has its own searchable file
- Paragraph (b) requires a separate transcribed, dated and numbered searchable PDF for each report, with the specified first-page identifiers.
- Report extensions require a supported reviewing-court motion
- Rule 323(e) permits a motion before original or extended expiry or within thirty-five days thereafter. Support it with an affidavit showing necessity. After expiry, also show reasonable excuse for not filing the motion earlier. Serve the preparing clerk. Relief requires an actual order.
- Accelerated minor-related reports use another period
- Rule 311(a)(4) requires the covered record and transcript in the Appellate Court no later than thirty-five days after notice filing or the qualifying grant of leave. Check its affidavit and service conditions.
- The calculator does not decide appealability, disputed facts, sufficiency of a filing or whether the court grants relief.
- Check the governing edition and actual orders. A current rule does not establish every historical appeal’s timetable.
